Daily Rewind – March 6

Notable Songs:

Girlpool’s debut, Before The World Was Big, was one of the best albums of 2015. They have now announced the release date and first song from the follow-up album, Powerplant. “123” see them as a full band, as compared to just the two of them with guitars. This was announced previously and can be heard on their first single “123.” It’s in the same style as previous work, with powerful lyrics and gorgeous instrumentation. The video is also great, showing Cleo Tucker leaking paint to represent her anxiety in the clip of trying to ask someone out. Powerplant will be released 5/12 via Anti-.

English art rockers alt-J have announced the details and first song from their third album. The album is called Relaxer. The debut track, “3ww,” is a folk song that sounds like multiple songs conjoined together. The track seems to be looking towards a promising album.

Doom metal outfit Pallbearer are releasing a new highly anticipated album. The second single was released today with a video. The pretty, new song is called “I Saw The End” and makes me that more excited for the release Heartless on 3/24 via Profound Love.

Glaswegian duo WOMPS released a new song today. It’s an 80’s style ballad in the sense of a group like the Cure.

Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead created a 16-minute long version of The King of Limbs track “Bloom”. It was the soundtrack for fashion designer Jun Takahashi’s Undercover show at the Paris Fashion Week. Fans have pointed out that “Bloom (Creatures Mix for Jun Takahashi)” contains parts of other Radiohead songs such as “Spectre,” “Glass Eyes,” “Motion Picture Soundtrack,” and “Everything In Its Right Place.”

Albums Now Streaming:

David Bazan, the former frontman of Pedro The Lion, has been making music as a solo artist for awhile now. It began more like classic emo sound of Pedro The Lion, and on last years Blanco became an indie pop artist. His new album Care, out tomorrow, has become more straight-forward, at times minimalist, pop but he still retains his uncanny ability at writing lyrics.

Swedish four-piece Hater are now streaming their debut album You Tried a few days before its release. Their music sounds like a more garage-y Field Mouse, using elements of indie-pop, shoegaze, and some classic rock feels. You Tried is out this Friday via PNKSLM.

Videos Worth Watching:

Joey Bada$$ shared the video for the lead single “Land of the Free” from his sophomore album All-Amerikkkan Bada$$. The album is out 4/7 via Pro Era.

Twee influenced indie rockers Yucky Duster have a new video out for a track from the recently released EP Duster’s Lament. Check out the weird talent show themed video for “Elementary School Dropout” below:
