Weekend Rewind – March 18 & 19

Notable Songs:

2017 is a big year for the Canadian collective Broken Social Scene. The group itself is releasing an album but so are several members such as Feist, and now Metric. The Emily Haines-fronted band have released the studio version of “Come On, Angel.” A slow, piano-centered ballad that was debuted live earlier in the month. No word yet on if this is a one-off or lead single.

Father John Misty has a new album coming out in a couple weeks and has released a few singles, and now generic pop songs. The songs are aptly titled “Generic Pop Song #3,” “Generic Pop Song #9,” “Generic Pop Song #16.” Pure Comedy is out April 7.

Albums Now Streaming:

Drake’s “playlist” More Life premiered last night on his Beats 1 show OVO Sound Radio. It is 22 tracks and features guest appearances from the likes of Kanye West, Young Thug, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Quavo, Sampha, and Skepta.

Videos Worth Watching:

Lana Del Rey performed her new song “Love” for the first time at SXSW.

Chuck Berry, one of the greatest singer/songwriters and guitarists, notable for hits such as “Johnny B. Goode,” “Maybellene,” and “Roll Over Beethoven,” passed away Saturday evening at the age of 90. Berry was probably the ultimate founder of rock and will have an immortal legacy not only within music world, but throughout time itself. “Johnny B. Goode” was one of the four songs chosen to be included on the album attached to the satellite Voyager.
