Garage rock rippers White Reaper have released the third single from their upcoming album The World’s Best American Band. “The Stack” is the strongest of the three and is ferocious. The album will be released 4/7 via Polyvinyl.
Nicki Minaj has another verse aimed at Remy Ma. Two weeks ago Minaj released “No Frauds” with Drake and Lil Wayne and issued a challenge to create a hit within 72 hours. Ma has been silent and Minaj has come at her again, this time in the David Guetta song “Light My Body Up,” that also features Lil Wayne. The verse is fairly short but packs hard punches, “No she’ll never be queen/ So now she got a vendetta/ I ain’t talking ’bout David when I say I’ma Guetta.”
Diet Cig have a new track out, “Link In Bio,” from their upcoming album Swear I’m Good At This. I’ll let Alex Luciano’s press statement describes the idea behind the song pretty well so here it is:
“‘Link In Bio’ unpacks this idea that women + femmes should be any specific way and says uh NO. It’s an extra special fuck you to the notion of a ‘chill girl’ that I swear was created by cis men to make women + femmes feel bad about voicing their feelings. It’s me screaming that it’s okay to be loud and bossy and sensitive and kind and weird and angry and ecstatic and literally any other emotion that you feel because YOU ARE A RADIANT AND NUANCED HUMAN BEING WHO IS GOING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD <3.”
Swear I’m Good At This will be released 4/7 via Frenchkiss Records.
Low Roar have a new song out called “Waiting (10 Years).” The song is a simple glittery syncopated synth beat while Ryan Karazija croons over it. They are currently on a US tour with San Fermin and have European dates after. The new album, Once In A Long, Long While…, will be released on 4/14 via Nevado Music.
Jason Isbell is releasing a new album on June 16 called The Nashville Song. The new song called “Hope the High Road” signals a different direction musically for the americana singer/songwriter. The lyrics are still introspective but now he has a full sounding backing band call the 400 Unit.
Videos Worth Watching:
Migos keep releasing videos from their chart-topping and acclaimed album Culture. The newest is for “What The Price.” The punk outfits featuring the like of Iron Maiden and The Misfits feel appropriate for a song based on a 80’s ballad guitar.
Modern Baseball have a video for “Wedding Singer,” one of the highlights of last year’s excellent Holy Ghost. The song is about singer Jacob Ewald’s processing of his grandfather’s death and the video seems to fit that well. It’s chaotic and has the band functioning as a the brain and emotions of grieving 20-something who gets led through a wild day of hanging with a pink-haired pixie cut funeral driver.
Dude York have a new video for “Tonight,” the highlight of their new album Sincerely. The video finds the band having fun across a mall. Watch below:
Tool’s new album is seeming more likely to actually come with the annuncement that they will probably, finally put their music on streaming platforms.
Hopefully Kendrick Lamar’s LP4 is here soon. He’s headlining some major festivals, including Coachella, and today posted this on Instagram.
