Notable Songs:

Tricot are a four-piece from Kyoto, Japan. They have a new album, 3, coming out on 5/19 via Topshelf (US), Big Scary Monsters (Europe), and Bakurestu (Japan). The premiere track is called “DeDeDe” and is a delicate mix of post and indie rock, similar to that of fellow countrymen emo legends toe.

Syd released her great debut album Fin at the beginning of the year. She just shared an outtake from that album on Soundcloud. The song is funky upbeat number that would’ve been one of the more sunny sounding tracks if it was on Fin.

Portland psych-rock band Moon Duo are releasing their newest album, Occult Architecture Vol. 2, in just over a month on 5/5. They have another single from it out, the seven minute “Sevens”.

Albums Now Streaming:

One of the biggest rap groups in Britain is the Section Boyz (Drake and Skepta even recently showed up to perform with them). Today they dropped a 19-track mixtape Soundcheck which you can download for free on Bandcamp. It’s a more accessible album than most for non-Brits trying to get into grime.

The 15th studio album from British post-punk legends Wire is here. Silver / Lead is available for stream on Noisey and is out 3/31 via Pinkflag.

Videos Worth Watching:

The Shins are having a contest to give away their old touring van. In order to win you must record yourself performing a cover of a track from their most recent album Heartworms. In honor of this contest, the group performed the new single “Name For You” in the van itself.

Stormzy’s debut album Gang Signs & Prayer showed he go hard, but also showed a softer side, in which he proves he can actually sing pretty decently. He put this skill to use again on the BBC’s Live Lounge, covering Frank Ocean’s Blonde track “Godspeed.” Skip to the 11:33 mark.

Anna Wise released The Feminine: Act II in mid-February and it’s best track “Balance In All” now has a video. It follows her along the coast and through the forest of Northern California, singing to the redwoods like she used to do as a child.

News/Articles/Interviews:

Adele capped her world tour in Auckland, New Zealand last night, and maybe her touring career. Last night she said during the concert: “Touring isn’t something I’m good at… Applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable. I don’t know if I will ever tour again. The only reason I’ve toured is you. I’m not sure if touring is my bag.” Adele has always tried to stay out of the spotlight and definitely should be set after her record-breaking sales from 25.

There was a shootout at a deli in Fetty Wap’s hometown of Paterson, NJ over the weekend which seemed to target him. He was uninjured but the shootout was due to someone stealing his “1738” chain and some cash. Today though, longtime rival Raheem Thomas was arrested after he showed off the chain in an Instagram photo. Thomas is part of Muscle Team Entertainment, which warned Fetty Wap to “stay out of Paterson.” More via TMZ.
